Regenerative braking control paddles A new spin on regenerative braking. The regenerative brakes turn the mechanical energy generated by the wheels into electricity when you decelerate and store it in the battery. With the control paddles located just behind the steering wheel,
you can select from three levels of re-gen control.
Charge more when decelerating Easy cruising when decelerating Increase energy recapture when easing off the accelerator pedal by engaging in a much higher degree of deceleration. In fact the Kona Electric fully stops when you take your foot off, creating a “one pedal” driving experience where the brake pedal’s only needed for emergency stops. This especially comes in handy during stop-and-go traffic by eliminating the hassle of constantly switching pedals. Less energy is captured
by offering a more conventional coasting
and deceleration feel.
With a higher deceleration rate than the Nissan
Leaf, the Kona EV can recover more energy.*
Shift-by-Wire
Drive control at the push of a button.
Kona Electric features a modern Shift-by-Wire drive control that shifts electronically instead of mechanically. The absence of a mechanical linkage frees up extra storage space under the center console.
