The Santa Fe’s tailgate area is full of thoughtful features designed to increase convenience.

It starts with a generously sized and intuitive right-mounted handle to open the tailgate. It’s a feature Santa Fe owners told us they appreciate, and once you use it you’ll understand why our engineers chose it over other designs.

The bumper itself features a textured covering to guard against paint damage. It’s a feature that other car companies typically place in their accessory catalogs and charge extra for.

The details increase safety as well. Large reflectors placed in the bumper increase your safety while loading the vehicle at night, while LED’s (SE and Limited) in the center-mounted brake light illuminate faster than conventional bulbs to maximize the reaction time of those behind you.

The Santa Fe was the first Hyundai vehicle to be styled at our Design Center in Irvine, California. The designers, model makers, and technicians at our $30 million facility gave the Santa Fe clean, timeless lines that are bound to look as contemporary years from now as they do today.

Of course, timeless design wouldn’t matter much if the Santa Fe wasn’t engineered to last. At our Design and Engineering Center just east of Ann Arbor and at our Proving Grounds in California’s Mojave Desert, the focus is on quality, and the Santa Fe is put through a barrage of tests to ensure it can withstand extreme temperatures, severe weather and a range of road surfaces.

And once the Santa Fe passes muster there, it’s up to the workers at our assembly plant in Montgomery, Alabama, to painstakingly build the Santa Fe to our engineers’ exacting specifications.
