An advanced-strength unibody, eight airbags and a full complement of advanced technology safety features help keep you secure on the road and help give Genesis a 2013 NHTSA 5-Star Overall Safety Rating.
When vehicle speed exceeds 43 mph, this sophisticated driver assistance technology monitors the position of the vehicle in the lane. If the system detects movement out of the lane without use of a turn signal, a warning light and chime are activated, enabling the driver to reposition the car.
This feature removes much of the frustration when a car moves into your lane in front of you, forcing you to change your cruise control settings. When Smart Cruise Control (SCC) is engaged, the driver can select a distance to be maintained from the vehicle in front. A radar sensor is located in the front bumper to judge the distance of cars ahead. When it detects a vehicle, it automatically slows the Genesis down maintaining a safe distance with the vehicle ahead.
These safety systems monitor key dynamic inputs every microsecond you drive, to help you avoid problems. Every Genesis is equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) system.
ESC uses sensors to measure the difference between a driver's intended path and the actual position of the car. When a turn is more or less than intended, ESC applies appropriate braking to help the driver gain control. ESC also includes Traction Control System (TCS), which reduces wheelspin during acceleration for maximum traction.
In most cars, the head restraints provide comfort. But we've developed head restraints that also provide an added level of safety. In the event of a rear-end collision, they move forward in an instant to provide extra protection against whiplash injuries.
The exceptional quality of the available HID Xenon headlights is an innovation you have to see to believe. And as you add passengers and luggage to the Genesis, the headlights automatically adjust so that the illumination remains parallel to the road surface.
See and be seen wherever you go. Brilliant features such as the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFLS) increase visibility and safety. This system adjusts the path of the headlights to match the turning angle and direction of the vehicle for optimal illumination in turns.
