Hyundai takes naming its vehicles seriously. That’s why the company does extensive research and uses experts to find the ideal names.
Hyundai starts by consulting with a naming company. Key information is provided about the vehicle, and the naming company creates a list of names. Then, the dictionary and Latin meanings are researched for up to 20 languages since Hyundai sells vehicles around the globe. Next, the names are sound tested and then checked by the legal department to make sure they aren’t already owned or copyrighted.
Hyundai Brand Planning and the naming company narrow the list to 10 choices, which are then tested with you, the consumer. From your feedback, a primary and two secondary names are chosen by Hyundai Motor America executives and then are approved by Hyundai Motor Company.
